About

How this guide is researched

Where the numbers come from, what happens when a fact cannot be confirmed, and how to tell how old a page is.

Sources, in order of authority

For anything that can change — opening hours, ticket prices, reservation rules, transport routes — the first source is the attraction's own website or official WeChat account. The panda base page cites panda.org.cn; the museum page cites the museum's own visitor guide; the Wuhou Shrine page cites the museum's published transport page for which metro exit actually saves the walk, not a blog.

Where an official page does not exist, or exists only in Chinese behind a mini-program, we fall back to municipal tourism material, then to established operators and ticketing platforms, and we name the source we actually used at the foot of the page. A page whose facts came from an operator listing says so.

Every page that carries prices or hours also carries the date those details were checked. That date is not decorative: it is the only honest way for you to judge whether the number in front of you is likely to still be true.

What we will not do to fill a page

If a fact could not be confirmed, it is left out. That means some pages deliberately have gaps: no invented walking times, no guessed entrance fees, no 'typically around' prices dressed up as research. A missing number costs you a search; a wrong number costs you a morning and a taxi.

We also do not write placeholder sections. You will not find 'details coming soon' boxes or 'check back later' notices on this site — if a section had nothing confirmed to say, it was not published.

Photos are the one place where this site is currently thin, and it says so rather than borrowing images from other people's sites. When real photography is added, it will be credited.

The two live things on the site

The clock and temperature in the header are live, not prerendered: the time is read from your browser using China Standard Time (UTC+8, no daylight saving), and the weather comes from Open-Meteo's current-conditions API for central Chengdu, refreshed when the page loads. If the weather request fails, the strip stays blank — a wrong temperature is worse than no temperature.

The climate table on the weather page is different: it is computed at build time from ten years of daily readings (2015–2024) in Open-Meteo's historical archive, averaged by calendar month. The script that produces it is part of the site's build, so the numbers can be re-derived rather than trusted.

Independence and money

This site is independently written. It is not affiliated with any attraction, hotel, transport operator or tour company, and no business has paid for a placement, a ranking or a recommendation on any page.

Where a page links out, the link exists so you can verify a fact for yourself — the official ticket page, the museum's visitor guide, the metro operator. Outbound links are marked nofollow where the destination is a commercial listing rather than an authority.
